A small group of family members and friends are heading to the park for the day, hoping to take part in a fun afternoon of play.
The group is headed to the Bodega in Santa Fe for a “Pooh-meets-a-lion” day, where the animals will get to experience some of their favorite stories and meet some of the staff at the Bountiful Animal Rescue.
The rescue is part of the BSDCC, which runs the animal rescue group.
Pooh is being adopted from an animal shelter and the group plans to take him on a few days in the park.
“Pooh is an amazing storyteller, he can be funny, he’s really playful and he’s always smiling,” said Ashley Smith, a friend of Pooh.
The idea of going to the zoo for a weekend fun day with the animals came about after Pooh got a little too loud.
“We had some conversations about the idea of taking him out to go on a fun day,” said Smith.
“He’s not the biggest of animals, but he’s the sweetest and most kindhearted.”
In his spare time, Pooh enjoys watching the San Francisco 49ers play the Houston Texans on ESPN, and his friends also enjoy hanging out.
“It’s fun for them to be together,” said Tasha Brown, a pet owner.
“I think it’s a great thing for them.”
The group plans on bringing Pooh and the other animals into the park later this month, so the community can all enjoy their time together.
“If we can get people to come and go as long as we can, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Brown.
